Grand-mère à 100 ans avec ses petits-enfants

Quelques fois la maman de Nini va voir sa grand-mère. Elle s'appelle Mémé. La grand-mère de la maman de Nini est très vieille.Elle est si vieille, que Nini peut en avoir peur. C'est du moins ce que dit la maman de Nini. Alors, Nini n'accompagne pas toujours sa maman, lorsqu'elle va voir Mémé. Elle reste à jouer dans le jardin avec les lapins et le chat.

Sometimes Nini's mom goes to see her grandmother. Her name is Granny. The grandmother of Nini's mother is very old. She is so old, that Nini can be afraid of her. At least that's what Nini's mom says. So, Nini does not always accompany her mom, when she goes to see Granny. She remains to play in her grandma's garden, with the rabbits and the cat.

Mais cette fois-ci, la maman de Nini a tenu à ce qu'elle vienne de voir sa grand mare. Car cette fois-ci, c'est l'anniversaire de Mémé. Cette fois-ci, Mémé a100ans.  « Mémé n'a plus toute sa tête », dit maman.

But this time, Nini's mom wanted her to come with her and her grandma. Because this time, it's Granny's birthday. This time, Granny is 100 years old. "Granny's out of her mind," Mom says.

Il lui arrive de ne plus savoir ce qu'elle fait. De ne plus savoir ni ce qu'elle dit, ni ce qu'on vient de lui dire. Elle n'habite pas toute seule. Elle vit dans une grande maison, avec des tas et des tas d'autres vieilles personnes. Nini y est allée une fois avec sa maman, et avec sa mamie. Mémé n'arrêtait pas de demander en la montrant du doigt:  "Mais, qui c'est ça ? ". 

Sometimes she does not know what she's doing. To no longer know what she says or what she has been told. She does not live alone. She lives in a big house, with lots and lots of other old people. Nini went there once with her mom, and with her grandma. Granny kept asking, pointing at her: "But who is that?"

La maman de Nini répondait gentiment, en souriant: " C'est Nini; c'est ma fille, Mémé. Tu la connais, tu l'as déjà vue."  Et la mamie de Nini disait aussi: "C'est ma petite-fille, maman. C'est ton arrière petite-fille." 


Nini's mother replied gently, smiling: "It's Nini, it's my daughter, Granny, you know her, you've seen her already." And Nini's grandma also said, "It's my granddaughter, mum, it's your great-granddaughter."

Et Mémé disait tout simplemement:"Ah !" Mais elle redemandait aussitôt après un tout petit temps de silence, en pointant du doigt vers Nini: "Et ça, qui c'est?"

And Grandma said simply: "Ah!" But she asked again immediately after a little silence, pointing to Nini: " who is it?"

Alors, la maman et la mamie de Nini, répondaient encore en souriant: " Mais c'est Nini, c'est ma fille, Mémé. Tu la connais, tu l'as déjà vue."  Et la mamie de Nini ajoutait: "C'est ma petite-fille, maman. C'est ton arrière petite-fille." 

Then Nini's mother and grandmother were still smiling, "But it's Nini, it's my daughter, Granny, you know her, you've seen her already." And Nini's grandmother added, "It's my granddaughter, Mom, it's your great-granddaughter."


Nini regarde Mémé. Mais Mémé ne bouge pas. Elle a l'air de regarder Nini, mais Nini sait que ce n'est pas elle, que Mémé regarde. Au bout d'un moment, Mémé tend le doigt vers Nini qui tient son nounours contre son coeur. 

Nini looks at Granny. But Granny does not move. She seems to be looking at Nini, but Nini knows it's not her, that Granny is watching. After a moment, Granny holds out her finger to Nini who is holding her teddy bear against her heart.

"Et ça, qui c'est?" "And that, who is it?"

"Ça, c'est Nounours, c'est mon doudou", dit Nini. Si tu veux je te le prête un petit moment. Mais pas longtemps. Faudra me le rendre", dit Nini.C'est à moi." Et Nini tend son doudou à Mémé.

"That's Teddy, it's my blanket," says Nini. If you want I'll lend it a little while. But not long. Will have to give it back to me, "said Nini. And Nini hands her comforter to Granny.

Alors Mémé le serre très fort contre son coeur. Elle pleure mais, ce n’est pas de tristesse. Elle pleure de bonheur. Alors la mamie de Nini prend son appareil photo. Et la maman de Nini prend Nini dans ses bras. Elle la serre tout contre son coeur. "Bon anniversaire Mémé", chante toute la famille. 

Then Granny holds him tight against his heart. She's crying but, it's not sadness. She is crying with happiness. So Nini's grandma takes her camera. And Nini's mom takes Nini in her arms. She tightens her against his heart. "Happy Birthday Granny," sings the whole family.

"Très bon anniversaire Mémé", dit Nini en reprenant Nounours que Mémé lui tend.
"Happy Birthday Granny," Nini said, picking up Teddy that Granny hands him. 

 Et tout le monde rit. And everyone laughs.
